I grew
up in a multi-generational household where pie played a prominent role in the
family food pyramid. My baking
apprenticeship was under the watchful eye of my grandmother’s housekeeper,
Jessie, whose pie repertoire was endless.
My first professional bakery job was at The Home Dairy in Ithaca, New
York. Upon college graduation armed with
a degree in Theatre, I set out anticipating a career in the arts. Theatre jobs allowed me to criss-cross the
country, sampling baked goods along the way.
A fork in the road led me to Philadelphia where I owned a restaurant for
10 years. I honed my pie production skills at a farm in Bucks County that
prided itself on “Farm to Table” long before it was a buzzword. I currently wield a rolling pin at a small
bakery in the Garden State. When not
baking, I can be found logging miles in my running shoes.
